Process

Vert design usually follows a six stage approach to projects:

1. RESEARCH & CONCEPTS

2. DESIGN REFINEMENT

3. DETAILED DESIGN

4. PROTOTYPING

5. ENGINEERING & DOCUMENTATION

6. TOOLING, PRODUCTION & PART APPROVAL

Phase 1 - RESEARCH & CONCEPTS

RESEARCH - A sample of similar product are taken and revived with the existing design. Features are highlighted and a small report is generated including a style/ mood board showing trend directions.

CONCEPTS - Hand drawn concepts are generated and assessed for feasibility concepts are then laid out for a concept review

Phase 1 Deliverables:
> Project Brief revision 1.
> Project Brief revised, as appropriate
> Selection of 2D hand sketches, for first design review.
> Best concepts taken to a second design review.
> Mood board

Phase 2 - DESIGN REFINEMENT

Concepts are selected from Phase 1 and are reviewed in more detail. A second round of concepts are generated to produce a final concept.

Phase 2 Deliverables:
> Presentation renderings of final design concept/concepts

Phase 3 - DETAILED DESIGN

Final designs of the components for production are produced in 3D and 2D CAD. Component specifications will be provided, as required.

Phase 3 Deliverables:
> 3D & 2D CAD data
> Elevations
> Gross dimensions
> Renderings with annotations
> E-drawings (3D files)

Phase 4 - PROTOTYPING

The 3D CAD is taken from Phase 3 small adjustments are made. Quotes are then sourced and issued before a prototype is produced. The prototype is then cleaned and tested by Vert Design before being delivered to you. The cost of the prototypes will vary depending on the design and method used so it is not possible to estimate the cost to you at this stage.

Phase 4 Deliverables:
> Quotes relating to different prototyping processes
> A Cleaned and finished prototype

Phase 5 - ENGINEERING & DOCUMENTATION

The final cad model is produced and any changes arising from the prototyping stage are made. The cad model is the analysed for manufacturing issues such as - Draft, wall thicknesses, material specification, parting lines etc.

Phase 5 Deliverables:
> Engineering drawings
> Bill of materials (parts list)
> Process specification
> Parts sourcing list
> Plastic sample - and specification sheet

Phase 6 - TOOLING, PRODUCTION & PART APPROVAL

Documentation from Phase 5 is sent to a range of manufactures to source quotes. The quotes are then processed and interpreted before being sent to you for approval. Off tool samples are selected and approved before a Golden sample is chosen and kept for reference.

Phase 6 Deliverables:
> Manufacturing and tooling quotes
> Part approval documents
> Golden sample
