Senior Industrial Designer & Design Lead
Ned has over 8 years of experience at Vert, assisting clients in bringing their ideas to life and designing meaningful products with a blend of creativity, human experience, sustainability, technical expertise and commercial focused outcomes. He believes that designers play an important role in driving incremental change through addressing real world issues and core causes of problems. Ned enjoys exploring the conceptual territories within each design, particularly in the research and sketching phases so that the project direction is anchored from a creative and honest place.
As an Industrial designer, he enjoys the potential of becoming immersed into new worlds and industries, developing new skill sets and areas of knowledge that deepen his understanding of how things work and informing new methods of making and innovative solutions. His design methodology is to apply creative skill to all products, infusing craft, passion and effort as well as meeting the technical requirements.
As an experienced designer, Ned has an ability to hold his clients through each stage of the project, articulating and giving language to navigate the pre and post production, design and manufacturing of the product from start to completion. He sees the value in those he partners with, enjoying the interplay between client and designer that always results in a unique and creative output.
Ned has a wealth of knowledge working with sustainable materials and has worked on multiple marine debris projects, contributing to developing and pushing the limitations of marine debris material. He can advise on what kinds of materials will best suit the intended use and function of the product as well as addressing other considerations that impact sustainability such as ease of disassembly, repairability and longevity of the product throughout the entirety of its life cycle.
