Senior Industrial Designer & Design Lead

Zac is a seasoned industrial designer with over 9 years of experience, having graduated with Honours in Integrated Product Design from the University of Technology Sydney in 2015. His academic journey took him to Milan, Hong Kong, Seoul, and Indonesia, enriching his perspective on global design quality and diversity. Zac's early career included a role as a design assistant to the head of Product Design, followed by positions with companies focused on engineering components, commercial and marine seating solutions.

He then spent 7 years at Bang Design, where he thrived in a commercial environment, collaborating with major companies. Zac's work is characterized by a deep appreciation for the creative process, blending imagination with the creation of physical artifacts that enhance everyday life. He values both traditional and cutting-edge design techniques, enjoying the exploration of diverse processes and materials.

Zac has worked on a diverse range of projects, from more technical door lock mechanisms and decking screws to formed recycled PET panels and acoustic tiling. His portfolio includes injection-molded chairs, healthcare seating, fold-out sofas, and unique exhibition pieces. Zac has collaborated with esteemed companies like Mud Australia and Nau Design on lighting and furniture projects. He enjoys striking a balance of aesthetics, ergonomics, structural considerations, materials and manufacturing techniques. Zac's approach to design emphasizes quality, longevity, and sustainability, believing that high-quality, well-considered products lead to enduring solutions. 

At Vert, Zac has excelled in design thinking, effectively resolving challenges and contributing to an array of projects as team leader. His work spans various soon-to-be-announced consumer-facing goods, including sports, rehabilitation, makeup, skincare, and more.

He advocates for a holistic view of sustainability, focusing not just on materials but also on the rituals of use, user needs, and efficiency in the creation of a product to achieve better outcomes. Zac is drawn to designs with elements of surprise or unique thought processes, aiming to create products that endear themselves to users through thoughtful and playful details.
